Get experience, train for your goal, and how to handle the need of all types of adventure in the mountaineering business..

The most important thing will always be to develop your experience.

Always test the equipment before the tour. Do your special customizations for your needs

When it comes to training for a mountain-expedition, there will be three phases. The first will be to get the base. The length of training so your body can adapt, and so you don’t get injured.

The second step will be to get the endurance, cycling, swimming, running long intervals etc. Now the body must be able to work for 12-14 hours.

Endurance training, a must for a mountaineerer…

The third step  will be branch specific training. From my perspective it is very good if it can be together with mental training. So if its possible train as likely as the tour your going for..

cross-country-ski-training-tease[1]

Try to get the training as much as possible like the tour you going for…

The mountaineering area is in a very interesting situation right now. There are so many people, with so many different wills. The mountain lodge try to adept for all the needs, but somewhere there is a risk that they will lose themselves in it. But it is here the guides come in. Use a guide for the special event, and the mountain lodge can keep its own character. That is what I think will be the future…

And about the training, 9 workouts a great week with a lot of hill training. and thanks Marcus for the sparring:-).

This weeks music will be a acoustic one, enjoy Jack Savoretti..

Se ya soon again..

La Sportiva Bushido. A real good shoe, with a very good grip in the terrain. The front is build up for protect your toes from getting hurt from stones. A very Comfort shoe. 5 Nordic lights out of 5:-).

Sometimes it is good to reflect of what you have become. At the training the other day I was watching my shadow on the hill in the rising sun.

Look at your shadow sometimes and think;-)…

And ask your self if you did become what you wanted to be..

I have been writing a lot of acclimatisation. Another thing that might help you to adapt easier to high altitudes is the  Maca berries. A super fruit from the Andes.  I will at least try it to see if it works. The natives in the Andes eats it for faster acclimatisation.

Lowa has also come with a new mountaineering boot, Mountain Expert boot. I haven’t test it, but it looks like a good product..

Failure for success, navigation and a mountain tour

Early morning, looking out and it is all whiteout. My brain starts thinking. What will the plan be for today? Wait for the sun to warm up and pharheps the fog will dissapear? I got good knowledge of the terrain, and I have Control The descision will be to start descending..The thin is that it is good to test your knowledge for developing. As long as you not doing any risky thing it will develop you…

imagesEUI6XZMY

Fog means attention…use your knowledge.

The most important thing conected to fog  will be a good knowledge of navigation. Here followsa a good intruduktion or a repetion for you who already got the knowledge..

I’ve been to Jämtland for the third time this spring. Great trip to Sylarna, Blåhammaren. Skiing cross country at the last of snow this year.

The mountains are calling, Becoming a good mountaineerer and the good feeling..

Spring time, this means more light and warm winds. Now it is easy to train, it follows the plans. Soon i will breath the mountain air again. The mountains are Calling:-).

I been thinking of the fact of what a good mountaineerer is. I think it is a skilled mountain person that now his/hers limits, related to the conditions. A person who understands when the limits can be moved without risking the safety.  A person who always try to develop her/him self.

JN_EB-ACONCAGUA-8698-680x451[1]

Ed Veisturs a good mountaineerer.

The training goes on, and it feels good. Today I have my rest day. It feels a bit strange, not exercise. A sign that it perfect to rest:-). Now it will be hill training in the weekend…

And it is also important to enjoy life, and the calm after a good workout. And what can be better than a good cup of coffee..

IMG_0089

Don’t forgot to enjoy life….

Music this time will be a oldie goldie..

See ya at sunday:-)

A tough week, about challenge and old know how still matters…

A tough training week, 10 workouts and 10 hours..I ended the week with a running workout. Felt a bit tired. I have changed a lot of the training, so this is a sign that the body has started to adapt. At the gym, I have get back to do the exercise slow and correct. I also put strength in the running. So a good sign is the sore muscles.

IMG_0087

Chin training at home a great addition..

To be a good mountaineerer, you Always need to challenge your self. Both menthally and physically.

images[5]

For develop your self, you must challenge your self. Your training methods, your routes in the mountains. Probably most of all… your thoughts…and way of thinking..

I was Reading a book from 1953, and the thing is that there are two thing that comes to my mind. 1. They were really good in describing things at that time. 2. They really got good knowledge of the equipment and the mountain Environment. And it is easy to get impressed over there exploits.

This week insperation:

Se ya on wednesday…

Simplify, mesurement and go with the flow…

Woke up this morning and the rain was streaming down. 15k running was in my mind…It was just to go for it. When I conclude this week it has been 10 workouts within 6 days. Perfect, all follows the planning.

I have been thinking of all trends with measuring the training into absurdum. It is good to secure that the result improves, but I feel that it sometimes has gone to far. The training must be fun, and not so much scientific. Have control of your heart beat, that’s important. Its like always, simplify to get what you want. Clean out the un important disturbance

imagesK3WOL35F

The training also must be fun…

I always read a lot of outdoor magazine, and surprisingly often the readers complains over the content and articles. I must confess, I have thought in the same way. But the magazines purpose sometimes is to provoke. As a reader I have a responsible to understand that. For example don’t bring and drink wine when your are in a dangerous situation. I thin we all can understand that, if we think. We will all be experts in the  the area (the same in all area, dog owners, horse owner, fishermen’s etc.) So lets be more humbled all of us:-). So go with the flow, and enjoy life instead…you know what is right…

Mentally preparation, here comes some good advice for being prepared for upcoming adventures:

Start early, visualize the challenge you are going to do, keep your mind ease and have control over your emotions, keep the focus, talk to encouraging positive people , think about what can go wrong and what you can do if it happens, relax and have fun…

Prepared for all options…(Mattias Jansson)

A bad attitude or unsettled mind will destroy focus, guaranteeing failure regardless of training and preparation. so work with your attitude..

Mont Blanc1 036

You must want(or need) to be where you are. Doing one thing with the body and another with the mind is self-defeating..

This weeks music…

See ya, and train like hell…

A nice mountain trip, and about acclimatisation..

The last trip to Jämtland was real nice. Early Friday morning I started from Ramundberget. The part goal was to the mountain cabin Fältjägarstugan. 15km and almost uphill’s. After 3 hours I was there. I took a short rest, and continued to the target for the day Helags mountain station.  It took me another two hours to get the 14km to the station.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Helags mountain Station…

After breakfast the day after I went up to the Helags Peak 1897m. This ascend took me one our and forty minutes. At the top there was almost no wind. The view over the whole mountain environment was unbeatable.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A nice view over Jämtland…

I went down with fast speed and continued the tour to Fältjägaren which was my selected place to spend the night. After an hour and thirty minutes I was there.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fäljagarstugan mountain cabin..

I started a fire in the stove, and enjoyed the scene when the sun went down,. What a good life….

Early next morning I took my skis and started my way home. It was still dark, but the sunlight quickly started paint  the sky in orange.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Skardörrsfjällen in morning light, nice….

And now over to acclimatisation. As I wrote earlier it is connected to the spleen (sv. mjälten). Free divers for example have larger spleen, this connected to the ability to hold the breath. So theoretical it is possible to train your ability to adept to thinner air…More information will follow in this area…

And at last , some good music….See ya
