Go with the sun…love the seasons…

Early morning, I stand with my back to the mountain hut. The trail shoes are freshly tied, and I take the first staggering steps. The high air is first felt through the nose and soon reaches the brain, which reflects that the air is cold and crisp. The first sign of that autumn is approaching. I am struck by the mixed feeling of anticipation and melancholy, summer is leaving and winter is approaching. Go with the sun (or the season) is the way, always on the move towards something and leaving something. That is a good feeling, the feeling of life, of being alive…

This week has been good, meeting with the Mountain Safety Council. A lot of interesting topics, such as Mountain incidents, environmental impact of trails and bridges, mountain destination survey, visiting statistics in the Swedish mountain among a lot of other stuff. We also got a demonstration by a mountain safety patrol with an avalanche dog, and also a presentation of a interesting solution with a module built up mountain bridge. Easy to transport and perfect for adapt due to water flow.

When it comes to safety in the mountains there are two different types of gear. We got the PLB (Personal Location Beacon) or the Satellite communicator. So, what is the difference and what should I choose? Well, it as always depends on:-) But let us start by clearing out the difference. A PLB is easy and has a higher initial cost but doesn’t need any subscription. The Satellite communicator on the other hand got the function of two-way communication. Harnessing the power of Iridium satellite technology, satellite communicator  offer a range of features, from emergency signalling to two-way messaging and real-time tracking. Whether you’re trekking through dense forests, navigating treacherous terrain, or embarking on an epic expedition, a satellite communications device ensures you stay connected and safe, even when traditional means of communication fail. PLBs, linked to Cospas-Sarsat satellites, personify the last-resort emergency tool and ensure global rescue coordination by continuously sharing your position. So it depends of your usage which one that suits you best…
